Brand collaboration

The Hypnotic Test Drive with CUPRA

How do you test drive a car that cannot be driven yet? The CUPRA Tindaya is a concept car, so for its launch CUPRA moved the drive somewhere else: into the mind.

I led the hypnosis sessions. Drivers and creators including Jeremy Lynch, Daniel Abt and Becky Evans imagined the speed, the cabin and the feeling of being behind the wheel, and CUPRA turned what each of them described into AI-generated film.

It is the same skill I use in every session: helping the mind create an experience vivid enough for the body to feel it.

Training and lineage

Trained by the pioneers of Ericksonian hypnotherapy

My journey into hypnotherapy began under Stephen Brooks, who introduced Ericksonian hypnotherapy to the UK and developed non-attachment therapy. I furthered my studies with Dr. Ernest L. Rossi Phd, a renowned pioneer in the psychology of mind-body healing and a direct student of Milton H. Erickson, with whom he co-authored some of the most important key works in hypnotherapy. I also trained with Dr. Stephen Gilligan Phd., another direct pupil of Erickson and a leading figure in hypnotherapy and NLP, deepening my expertise and understanding of the field.

I have a strong commitment to my ongoing development as a therapist, and thus continue to educate myself and train in methodologies that can support transformation and healing. Recently I trained with Marianne Bentzen, the pioneer of research-based neuroaffective developmental psychology and with Dr. Glen Hartelius Phd, scholar and researcher working in the fields of consciousness and exceptional human skills, who developed the evidence-backed attention strategies approach to embodied consciousness.

Teaching and workshops

Workshops at galleries, museums and schools

For over a decade, I have been teaching workshops and classes which join hypnotherapy with creative practices, such as performance, dance, fine art, architecture, or utilise hypnosis to explore the mind-body connection: in the U.K. (Serpentine Galleries, The Barbican Centre, Camden Art Centre, AA Architectural Association School of Architecture, UAL University of the Arts), the U.S. (ICA LA – Institute of Contemporary Arts Los Angeles), Europe (HAU, Between Bridges Berlin, FMAV Fondazione Modena Arti Visive), Volte Art Project – Mumbai.

In collaboration with movement artist Lewis Walker, I co-created move.hypno— an innovative workshop merging movement practices, dance and hypnotherapy to foster personal and collective transformation. As a London Hypnotherapist, I also partner with performance artist Ron Athey to lead workshops that explore automatism and altered states as modes of doing and being in the world.

Personal practice

The practice behind the practice

Having a strong commitment to my own personal development I have been a practicing meditator since 2008, and have trained in both individual and group Mindfulness techniques, Vipassana and Vedic (Transcendental) meditation. As part of my personal practice, I trained for 10 years with the Mevlevi Sufi order in the sacred tradition of dervish turning (if you want to hear me talk about it, click here) — the meditative movement practice developed by the 13th-century mystic poet Jalāl al-Dīn Rūmī.

Since 2009, I have also deepened my understanding of healing and consciousness through participation in indigenous plant medicine ceremonies. This experiential learning has helped me grow both personally and professionally as a hypnotherapist.
